Cristobal Chaidez Quiroz
MICROBIOLOGIA AMBIENTAL
El Dr. Cristobal Chaidez Quiroz es un referente internacional en Microbiología Ambiental y de Alimentos, con especialidad en inocuidad alimentaria. Egresado de la Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, obtuvo su doctorado en la Universidad de Arizona (1999) bajo la tutela del prestigiado Dr. Charles P. Gerba, especializándose en la evaluación de riesgos por patógenos en agua potable. Desde 1999, forma parte del Centro de Investigación en Alimentación y Desarrollo (CIAD), donde fungió como Director de la sede Culiacán (2008-2014). Actualmente, lidera el Laboratorio Nacional para la Investigación en Inocuidad Alimentaria (LANIIA), acreditado por el SECIHTI, y preside la Asociación Nacional para la Inocuidad y Calidad de los Alimentos (ANICA) para el periodo 2019-2025. Miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII) Nivel 3, el máximo reconocimiento a la labor científica en México. Su productividad incluye: Más de 130 artículos científicos en revistas indexadas y 6 capítulos de libros. Editor para las Américas del International Journal of Environmental Health Research. Formación de talento humano con la graduación de 80 estudiantes (15 de doctorado, 40 de maestría y 25 de licenciatura). Durante la emergencia sanitaria, coordinó la Unidad de Diagnóstico Clínico de Pruebas PCR para COVID-19, avalada por el INDRE y la COEPRIS. Su experiencia trasciende la academia como consultor experto de la FAO y asesor científico para corporaciones globales como Clorox y Britta, especializándose en Buenas Prácticas Agrícolas (BPA) y sistemas HACCP. Sus líneas de investigación se centran en el rastreo de fuentes microbianas y el desarrollo de biotecnología basada en bacteriófagos, utilizándolos tanto como indicadores de contaminación viral en agua como agentes de biocontrol contra bacterias multirresistentes en la cadena alimentaria. Además, lidera proyectos de epidemiología basada en aguas residuales y evaluación de riesgos microbianos para la salud pública.
